I was watching my dog Soju walking with his nose an inch from the ground. Barely looking up and fully immersed in the process of smelling everything on the ground. And it dawned on me, with our gadgets as our constant companions, when was the last time I looked up and just immerse in the moment? I did that and looked up at the trees around me. Noticing the young coconuts and what looks like a squirrel on another tree. I also noticed a green bird with a white strip at the end of its tail. Happily chirping along. …

A few weeks ago my eldest daughter has graduated! The virtual ceremony is something strange to experience. Unlike the pre-pandemic days where there are a lot of emotions amongst those who are graduating. The sound of the venue filled with laughter and tears among the graduating students, their parents, friends and relatives. Fast forward the modern day ceremony is transformed into a living room experience as we all huddled around the TV and watch the graduation ceremony streamed live. Note that the presenters are the only one televised live and the students are all in their homes as a safety…

Today, was the day I took the plunge to remove the tiny springs on my Keychron K3 keyboard. The Keychron optical brown switch has this annoying sensitivity which causes unnecessary key press with a slight touch of the top keys. This is due to the springs which are meant to make it consistent.

Keyboards are part of my daily life. I type almost everyday for work or for taking down notes for stuff I need to remember. I haven’t put much thought about it until recently when I got re-introduced to mechanical keyboards. I don’t know if its a placebo…

Writing this in iA Writer. The aim is to write at least 200 words per day. Where do I see the stats? Alright, after a few poking around with the settings, I found the show stats option. Do this by selecting the font size icon (denoted by to A’s) and select the show stats. This gives you both the character and word count.

Wow. This really zooms in on the process of writing. With a good keyboard and hopefully good thoughts, this can be a perfect writing tool. I love the typewriter option as the text is focused at the…

So in the previous article, I mentioned about the financial freedom aspect of the #roadtoretirement . I would like to stress that it is one of the aspects but not the only aspect.

For me, the key aspects are finance, health, continuous learning and life (a.k.a. what makes you happy). Health is something that is going to be a critical factor to take seriously as there is no point in being financially free and retire with health issues that blocks you from enjoying the new found freedom.

Let’s talk about health. Regardless of which age you are, it’s never too…

There are some mysteries in life that for some reason never really makes sense until you get older. Or probably the average doofus like me is really just a late bloomer. I’m taking about the ability to realise and think that yeah, at some point you do have to retire.

When. you are young and you feel like you can live for an eternity and had that innate desire to enjoy life, it’s hard to ponder and have some deep philosophical epiphany that you can actually do both: enjoy life and have the ability to retire early. By retire, I…

I’m a doofus on both cycling and life, so take that into consideration.

1. Maintaining cadence is more important than sprints for long distances.

• This morning I watched in awe a bunch of folks sprint their heart out at the beginning of the Coastal Adventure Corridor, I was watching and maintaining my cadence and speed, and half-way in the route I had overtaken the weary folks I had seen earlier.

• Slow and steady as they say, turtle and the hare.

• Never underestimate maintaining the momentum for long term goals.

2. Pick your tracks accordingly.

• I normally would take the bike route over Cycling on the street. Yep, it doesn’t make me look…

Test, 1, 2, tres…
